About KeepFile
Useful file tools that run on your device
KeepFile is a collection of browser-based utilities for common document, image, and text tasks. The tools are designed to let you choose a file, adjust the available options, and save a result without sending the file to a KeepFile processing server.
How the tools work
When you choose a file, the browser reads it locally and the page's JavaScript performs the operation in the tab. The result is offered as a download. KeepFile does not need an account or a file upload service for these conversions. Tool pages explain their supported formats and known limitations; for example, the PDF-to-text tool can extract selectable text but does not perform OCR on scanned pages.
Designed around practical limits
Local processing keeps file contents on your device, but it also means speed and maximum file size depend on your browser, available memory, and processor. Large PDFs can take time to render, and a browser may run out of memory on very large files. Keep an original copy of important documents and review the downloaded result before relying on it.
