About this tool

Universal Image Converter transcodes pictures entirely inside your browser — your photos never leave your device.

Read: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, ICO, TIFF, SVG and AVIF. Write: PNG, JPG, WebP, BMP or ICO. JPG and WebP honour a quality slider; PNG, BMP and ICO are lossless.

SVG and AVIF inputs are rasterised by your browser's own decoder, so an SVG logo can become a crisp PNG at any size. ICO output is capped at 256×256 and built as a real icon container — ideal for favicons and app icons.

Honest limitations. GIF and TIFF are accepted as inputs only, because browsers cannot re-encode them — a tool that offered those as outputs would silently hand you a PNG with the wrong extension. Converting to JPG or BMP flattens transparency onto white, since neither format stores an alpha channel. Animated GIFs convert as a single frame.

FAQ

Which image formats can I convert?
Read: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, ICO, TIFF, SVG, AVIF.
Write: PNG, JPG, WebP, BMP, ICO. Transparency survives PNG and WebP; JPG and BMP flatten it onto white.
Can I batch convert multiple images?
Yes — drop up to 20 images and each is converted independently. Multiple results can be downloaded together as a ZIP.
Why is there no GIF or TIFF output?
Browsers cannot re-encode those formats from a canvas — a tool that offered them would silently hand you a PNG with the wrong file extension. They are accepted as inputs and converted to a format browsers can genuinely write.
Can I turn an SVG logo into a PNG?
Yes. SVG is decoded by your browser's own renderer and drawn onto a canvas, so it rasterises at the file's natural size. For a larger result, resize the SVG before converting or use the Resize Image tool afterwards.
What does the quality slider do?
It maps to the encoder's internal quality for the lossy formats JPG and WebP. Lower means smaller files and more visible artefacts; 0.6–0.8 is usually indistinguishable. PNG, BMP and ICO are lossless, so the slider hides for them.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
Never. Conversion runs in JavaScript on your device using the Canvas API and your browser's image decoder. There is no network request, and the tool keeps working offline once loaded.
